According to a study, India has one of the highest numbers of mental health issues globally, and an estimated 56 million million Indians live with depression. Unfortunately, this number only rises as our lifestyles become increasingly stressful. It is indeed alarming that depression often goes undiagnosed. Around 60% of those suffering from depression are reluctant to seek help because of fear or stigma. Depression is often seen as a weakness, and those who have it are not strong enough. People suffering from this condition are expected to “snap out of it” because it is perceived that it simply “does not exist”.
